March in Review | A Look Ahead at April

We’re already entering the second full week of April and life has been jam-packed so I’m going to combine my monthly recap/review post!

March in Review

Well the major highlight from March was quitting my full-time job to pursue my photography business full-time! The response I got from family, friends, clients and blog readers when I announced was overwhelming in the best way!! I appreciate everyone’s support! So I’ve been working in my photography business full-time for 2 weeks now and it has been AMAZING! I am enjoying the extra time I have to dive deeper into my business and to spend with my family. No more hopping on the computer as soon as Koa goes to sleep and editing into the early hours of the morning. I’m finding my new workflow/balance and adjusting quite nicely if I do say so myself 🙂 I’ll have to blog about my new schedule in a separate post because I could write so much on the topic!

We’re really loving the extra time together as a family! We took Koa to the Virginia Living Museum earlier this month and even though he refuses to smile at the camera, he had a great time haha!

Love Mommy & Koa time! Shaun & Koa get their alone time on wedding days and now we have our own special time on weekdays to go for walks, hit the park, grocery shop and just hang around the house 🙂
Sessions on top of sessions!
My first week working full-time was PACKED with sessions. Maternity, engagements, pregnancy announcements, headshots, senior portraits! If I was still working my full-time job, you’d find me up until 2am every night editing these sessions to beat my turnaround time and getting minimal sleep. Going full-time couldn’t have come at a better time. I’ve been able to give my editing & blogging my best working hours (day time, yay)!

My first wedding of the season was a blast! Chiquita & Jerome are the sweetest and I just finished their leather album!

I blogged about my top 5 reasons I’m excited for my 2016 wedding season and my second shooters were on the list. I love them!

My 2 sisters, brother-in-law and nephew came to visit Easter weekend! I miss them so much! 1) How adorable is my sweet Koa Avery!? 2) My nephew is getting so big, so fast! It feels like yesterday I took Cherie & Kevin’s maternity pictures! Can’t wait until these boys start chasing each other around haha.

A Look Ahead at April

Speaking of my amazing sisters, Cherie and I are visiting Melanie in New York City this month! So freaking excited!! We haven’t done a sisters trip in so long (the three of us went to LA a few years ago) so it’s long overdue. I can’t wait to have these ladies all to myself for a weekend in the city! Bring on the laughs, city lights, good food and lots of walking.

Even though I’m reflecting on what’s to come this month, I have to bring up John & Kate’s wedding the first weekend of April! It was such a perfect day and they are head over heels for each other!

Since March was so full of sessions, my April shooting calendar seems a lot less demanding. That doesn’t mean my plate is any emptier! It’ll give  me so much more time to blog a few topics For Brides and finish up my top-secret project! Not to mention, I’ll take all the family time I can get! Looking forward to trips to Busch Gardens, play dates and grown-up dates haha! What have you guys been up to?? 🙂

xoxo
