If you didn’t already know, the hunk on the left is my husband Shaun! He’s such a great supporter of my business and even though he doesn’t pick up a camera, he greatly helps in other ways! Now, on to my confession. You know those ‘sneak peek’ images I post on Facebook and Instagram soon after shooting a wedding or portrait session? Want to know how I pick ONE out of hundreds (or thousands) to post in order spoil the couple before the blog post goes live? Well, I don’t! I make my husband do it haha!
Here’s the deal. He doesn’t actually go through all the photos. I get home from the shoot, load all of my memory cards onto the computer and select 3-5 of my favorites. This is where I used to get stuck! I would edit the faves and take wayyyy too long to just pick one. I would sit at my computer for almost an hour going bak and forth between different images. I finally enlisted in Shaun’s help and haven’t looked back! Now, I show him my favorites and he picks one in a matter of 5 seconds. Seriously, he’s that quick!
I always ask him why he chooses a certain image or what he’s looking for specifically. His response is always simple: Something that stands out from the rest. DOH. Why can’t I pick one that quick?? I’m probably way too invested in the couple, in the wedding (or session), in my editing style, etc. He has an outsiders perspective and I trust that whatever image he picks, the couple will like! He hasn’t let me down yet! Thanks, Shaun!
Here are some examples of sneak peeks he has chosen. You’ll see 3-5 images are the options I narrow down to and the larger image is what he felt should be the sneak peek. I just go with it!
From Kate & John’s Yorktown Beach engagement session
Emily & Kenny’s Kings Creek Marina wedding
Brandi & Tripp’s Virginia Beach engagement session
Erin & Lonnie’s Sandbridge beach house wedding
Lianne & Mark’s Newport News maternity session
Easy as that! So thankful for him and this time saver in my workflow haha! 🙂
Wow NICE work. He is such a big support of yours. 🙂 I would take forever to choose one too, but I can tell he picked the right one. mhmm I guess sometimes men’s perspectives help us. 😀 I will try to hire my husband!!!
How fun is that place!!! Would be beautiful for a wedding for sure!
